A few weeks ago I was on 3Talk with Woolworths chatting about their kids' winter clothing range, trends and safety (a bit more about that later, plus how to win a R500 Woolworths gift card).
On the show, some kids modelled some of the winter range from head to toe, and while I ogled over the girls' accessories and knits, I loved the boys' stuff too - I have long whined a little about how girls' clothes are way cuter than boys', so I was pleasantly surprised to see cool stuff.

To fill you in on what the big trends and items instore are:
- For girls, it's cords, woolly knits, oriental florals, bright plaids, bolds, colourful prints and tweeds. The inspiration here is "the great outdoors" and ski holidays. Hot items include jeggings, polar fleeces in different colours, Heat Generation technology turtlenecks, and beautiful gloves and scarves. My favourites are the colourful knits - they're like what our grans used to make, but more modern and fun.
- For boys, there are 3D prints, bright skinny jeans, checked shirts and neon colours. My best are the knits with elbow patch detail, and as I've written and vlogged about, the wellies (we have them in five colours - at R80 a pair they're great value, and especially good for Cape Town winter!)
- For more on what's for babies, I'll leave you with these pictures. This cuteness speaks volumes... (I heart those onesies!)
How safe are these babies' and kids' clothes?
Woolworths' clothes for little ones pass strict safety guidelines. Something that I was pleasantly surprised to hear is that all the baby and kidswear are made in a pin-free zone, and go through a metal detector before they leave the factory. This ensures that nothing sharp is left in the garments.
There's also a “no nickel” policy, so all metal trims that come into direct contact with baby’s skin are nickel and ferrous free to avoid rust and skin irritation. Draw-cords are also securely tacked so that they can't be pulled out.
